LIFE OF LEWIS

Just little clips that were on my camera, which is somehow still functioning.

For some reason YouTube offers a better quality video, but that embedded link is the shittier quality one? You gotta click the button I guess to make the video 10% less grainy. Weird.

"All you need for a movie is a gun and a girl."

Here is Godard's 1965 masterpiece of science fiction film noir, Alphaville. Starring Eddie Constantine in his usual role of quintessential spy Lemmy Caution, he travels from 'the Outlands' to capture Dr. Von Braun, ruler of the city and inventor of Alpha 60, the dictator of logic. Godard's muse/wifey Anna Karina plays Natasha Von Braun.

I randomly caught this movie on at 3 in the morning years ago and couldn't sleep til I had seen it. Amazing cinematography. Flashing lights. Haunting music as oddly placed as the dark humour.
All in all in a very strange film.

GOOD NEWS

So the weekend began with Slick Rick, and so it shall end. A couple hours after I made that post, Ricky D was pardoned by New York Governor, David Paterson. Amazing.

That's how much sway I have in the blogosphere..

RICKY YOU THE NIGGA DONT FORGET IT!

MC Ricky D. The Best. Ever. In n' out of jail, although not entirely his fault. Once in 1990 for shooting his insane cousin and associate after he brought him over from Jamaica to be his security detail, but realized the dude was nuts and was just looking for drug connects. Threats and extortion is common place shit when you're in the Bronx with one eye and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on you. So that got him 2 years in jail for attempted murder, and he was in an extra 3 years due to immigration issues. Plenty more immigration issues for The Ruler, 17 months in a Florida jail following a cruise ship performance in 2002, and is now awaiting a trial brought on by the Dept. of Homeland Security to deport him to England.

He now lives in the Bronx with his son Ricky, where he manages a few buildings he owns. Weird to think that Slick Rick could be your landlord. He is supposedly recording a new album, but is waiting for a more accepting, mature rap audience to put it out.

Slick Rick - Mona Lisa

Slick Rick - Hey Young World

Slick Rick - Sleazy Gynecologist*

Slick Rick - Sittin' in my Car

Slick Rick - A love thats true (part 1)

Slick Rick - Let's all get down

Slick Rick - I'm Captive

Slick Rick - Gambling*

Slick Rick - Samson*

Slick Rick - Get A Job

Slick Rick - Ship

Slick Rick - King

Slick Rick - Behind Bars f. Kurupt

Slick Rick - Children's Story

Slick Rick - Venus

Slick Rick - Can't Shake Us f. Special K

The ones marked with asterisks are a few tracks off a rare EP that Russell Simmons recorded with Slick Rick quickly before he went into jail. There's apparently alot more songs from this time, but lost in the Def Jam vaults I guess.

SHE'S HAVING MY BABY AND IM NAMING IT TUPAC

As a result of titling his first posthumous release 'Makaveli: Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory', a world of conspiracy shit about Tupac essentially faking his own death spawned. The word on the interweb is that apparently he's been chilling out in Cuba or New Mexico all these years, and is just waiting to come back to do songs with Chamillionaire..

I only ever liked his first two albums. He was good in Gridlock'd and Juice, I dont remember any of his other films.

2Pac - I get around
2Pac - Holler if you hear me
2Pac - If my homie calls

THANK YOU DOPE FIENDS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

I fixed the Hell Razah and Shades of Brooklyn links below to the less sketchy preview/listen. Get em if you didn't before.

I'm really not a fan of Southern Rap, the newer stuff these days is just silly, but who can hate on someone talking about mayonnaise sandwiches?

Trick Daddy - In Da Wind feat. Ceelo & Big Boi

and a true Southern gem for all you young entrepreneurs out there, from everyone's favourite Congressional Hearing Rapper,

Master P - Ghetto Dope

And this is actually the greatest song ever:

I GOT SO MUCH TROUBLE ON MY MIND

Thank God I stuffed an ice pack in my sock before I slept/dusted Jacob's apartment with my eyeballs. A good long weekend with the homies, irregardless of sleeping conditions.
I'll add some fauxtography soon. My camera jumped out of my pocket for the third time and the shit basically imploded, what is left of the housing is cracked to death, looks like Robocop, but somehow it still works.

Trust!

From their only album, a live recording in Bermuda,
The Savages - Quiet Town

A good cover of Public Enemy's classic,
Pharoahe Monch - Welcome to the Terrordome

Bossanova,
The Pixies - Is She Weird

RENAISSANCE CHILD

Hell Razah, an affiliate of Staten Island's finest, had a couple of mixtapes out in 2007, but I'm pretty sure they were boring crap. This song however, off the above album, is Modern WU gem droppings.
